No Joke ... Buyer Beware: Sells Defective Products

Actually, is a joke and the joke was on me.

We purchased seven blinds at an average of $100 a pop from for our new house. When they arrived, I opened the boxes containing the two master bedroom blinds first in order to add privacy and sleep enhancing darkness to the room. Here is what happened ...

The first thing I noticed was the huge dent in the headrail of the larger of the two blinds. The headrails are actually quite thick and rigid, so it must have taken a heavy blow either at the factory or in-transit. Because the box was not damaged, I am thinking that it shipped that way. Unsat. The dent is on the outside of the headrail, so it is visible from the outside of the house.

The second thing I noticed was that there were no installation instructions included with the blinds, so I went to the website. The main diagram of the instructions for the blinds we ordered is so blurry and poorly presented that it was barely readable and mostly useless. They also reference "metal" clips to attach the valance, but there were only four clear plastic clips that looked nothing like those in the instructions. I was frustrated, so I went into trial and error mode.

The first blind was not only bent, it was a hair too big for the window brackets even though I followed their measurement instructions to the letter. I had to force the headrail into the bracket with a hammer, causing yet another dent in the already dented frame.

The installation of blind #2 went much easier until I realized that the cords (the instructions reference a plastic wand, of which there was not one) that control the tilt angle of the blind were inoperable ("inop" in military speak). I pulled one way, then the other, but nothing happened, so I had to remove the blind to find out what was wrong. Two times the work once again. 

The hexagonal bar that runs the length of the blind and controls the tilt of the slats was floating freely inside the headrail and the gear that fits into the tilt mechanism had become disengaged, so I slid back into place. Because there is nothing to hold the bar and gear in place, it is only a matter of time before it comes out again, the tilt cords become useless, and I have to remove the headrail again in order to, hopefully, get the blind to work once again.

Success ... NOT! Once I reinstalled the blind into the window brackets for the second time, I found that the tilt function in-fact controlled the tilt angle of the blinds and they closed completely when tilted up. Unfortunately, when we reversed direction, the tilt function stopped well before they reached the fully closed position when tilted down. Again, UNSAT!

I have not opened the other five boxes yet and am dreading doing so, fearing what I might find. Buyer beware,'s product quality and/or quality control, if any, is apparently non existent at worst or severely flawed at best. You may get a decent price, but as they (whoever "they" are) always say, "you get what you pay for".

The blinds look nice and appear sturdy, but appearances can be deceiving. Time will tell of Blindster stands behind their products or if they just sell garbage, then blow you off. I have sent them a link to this video along with my complaint and will let you know how they respond.
