Olhão, Portugal: U mi Goodness, Delicious All You Can Eat Sushi and Japanese for €17 ... HOOAH!

Umi Sushi (Japanese, Sushi)
R. Vasco da Gama, 8700-522 Olhão
Hours: 11 AM to 3 PM ⋅ 6 PM to 11 PM Daily
Phone: 289 153 829
Prices: €€€€

All you can eat sushi, sashimi, tempura, noodles, egg rolls, and meat in Old Town Olhão ... HOOAH!

This place has not been there very long, so I was surprised when I saw it - bright, clean, and modern inside, the space is inviting. Walking by with our friends from Tavira, they informed us that this is an all-you-can-eat restaurant, just like the one in Tavira. You pay €16.90 Monday to Thursday and €17.90 Friday through Sunday, lunch is only €13.90, quite a TravelValue!
Egg Rolls and Gyosa
You can order anything on the menu, as much as you want, but there is a surcharge for excess waste, which was not a problem for us. The portions are not large, for example, you get only two small, thin egg rolls. You write the numbers corresponding to each dish or drink on a small piece of paper and hand it to the server. The food arrives very quickly.
They have a full bar and prices are fair, €2 for a bottle of Super Bock and €4 for a glass of wine. The bottles of wine are not expensive and they have a nice range of soft drinks, juices, tea, coffee, and cocktails.
Shrimp Tempura
We started with the Espetadas do Frango (chicken skewers), Gyosa (pork dumplings), and Camarão Panado (breaded shrimp). The chicken was very dry, but the gyosa and shrimp were very good.
For our mains, we had California Rolls, Avocado Gunkan (seaweed cones with salmon, mango,  and avocado), Noodles de Carne de Vaca (beef noodles), Noodles Vegetariano (veggie noodles), Tempura de Gambas, Cogumelos Salteados (stir fry mushrooms), and Carne de vaca Grelhada (grilled beef). Everything was delicious, but there was not much beef in the beef noodles, so I would recommend getting the beef noodles and grilled beef, then mixing them together.

For dessert, we had two fried bananas, one with chocolate and one with caramel. I would not order them again as the were not very sweet and had an odd aftertaste.

Colorado Springs, CO: Sushi Or Not Sushi, That Is The Question

I-Fish

Monument, CO 80132
Phone: (719) 488-9898
Prices: $$$$

I am not a big sushi or sashimi fan. I have eaten both on several occasions and I personally just don't get it or see what all the fuss is about. A bunch of rice with seaweed wrapped around it and some vegetables or fish inside. Paying top dollar for something with so little taste just ain't my style. I ate freshly caught Mahi Mahi sashimi while on a 50 foot sailing yacht during a SCUBA diving trip to Yap and it was "OK", nothing to write home to Guam about.

Anywho, my sons and a friend of theirs wanted to come here for the $14.95 all-you-can-eat lunch deal, so I was cajoled into joining in. Two of them had the all-you-can-eat deal and what they received looked quite appealing and filling for the price.

My youngest son, who is not a sushi/sashimi fan like myself, and I decided to go with something more flavorful, so we both went with the Beef Yakisoba ($8.95). It was tasty enough, but not overly abundant. There was a medium size pile of the flavorful, fried noodles and a shredded carrot garnish, but it seemed as though my son got most of the beef when they split it into two dishes. As Wendy would say, "where's the beef?"

I will not let my opinion of sushi and the like sway me, so I base my rating on the quality of the food, the flavor of what I ate, the service, the atmosphere, and most of all the value. The food was good, the service excellent, the atmosphere nice, and the value average.

Lung Ta ... KOWABUNGA!

Lung Ta ... KOWABUNGA!

Lung Ta
(Japanese/Vegetarian)
Jogiwara Road
McLeodGanj, Dharamsala, H.P. India 167219

A ridiculously cheap vegetarian Japanese restaurant next to my hotel. I stopped by for an herbal tea to wait for my friend, but decided to try the Potato Croquettes with Salad - 80 Rupees ($1.30). They were great!

The tea was 20 rupees (32 cents), bringing the total to a whopping 100 rupees ($1.62), likely the best value in McLeod Ganj or India for that matter!
